Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! A day late and a "dollar short," I
suppose, but the wishes are there nonetheless! Yesterday we had
Thanksgiving dinner with some friends, and I made 3 things I'd never
made before! Yikes! One of them was a pumpkin roll, which I like a lot,
but had never made I figured I'd give it a shot. It was
actually pretty easy!

All my goodies before getting started...

Mixing up the ingredients....which, btw...canned pumpkin smells AWFUL! like jarred baby food! ick!
starting to wish I had a kitchen-aid stand-up mixer (red) hehe :)

TJ says to me..."are you cold?" to which I'm like, cold, why? why would
I be cold? and he says "because you're still wearing your scarf!" isn't a scarf TeeJ, it is a fashion accessory! I got it in red
also! :) well, I figured I'd let Miss Lil try it out.

"blue looks best on me, mom! I look lovely in your fashion accessory!"

"ok mommy, I'm over it. get rid of the scarf!"
that is all for now. we are working on our Christmas decorations, but
we need more lights for the tree. some of our strands are only half
working (literally!) so we'll have to get some more. but, we didn't
want to go to the stores today! maybe tomorrow! I also want to decorate
our porch but I'm not sure when I'll get brave enough to do that...

things to do before leaving CT

If all goes as planned, we will hopefully be making a move sometime in the latter half of 2009. It is hard to believe we've been here for nearly 3 years now! there are still a lot of things I would like to do before we leave the area, and lots of them are in NYC--better start saving! here are some of the things that are on my list...

1. see Wicked on Broadway
2. Visit Rockefeller and see the Christmas Tree, as well as go ice skating
3. Boston (ice skating at Boston Common?)
4. Cape Cod (?)
5. actually...lots of the other things are NYC things:
    -eat at Serendipity
    -Dylan's Candy Bar
    -visit the Statue of Liberty

That's all for now...I'm off to go watch The Hills. Not something I typically do, but Gossip Girl wasn't on tonight...gotta get my trashy fix somewhere!

november 17 : 5 thankful things

5 things for which I am thankful, today...

1. I found the motivation to exercise! woo-hoo!
2. None of the schoolwork I did for today was actually DUE today--I'm ahead of the game! woo-hoo #2!
3. A hubby, who is good and loves me and supports me, even thru all the drama
4. Dinner plans Wednesday night at one of my fav restaurants, with our friend who has been in Seattle since 2006, and has now returned to the area!!
5. A job to go to, and get paid for, even if I do often complain about it and feel negatively towards it. At least I have it!

There are many other "thankful things" today, but I need to take a shower! I'm thankful for that too--hot running water to take a shower :)

busy busy bee

as you might guess, I have been busy with school. the semester is
winding down! I registered for my spring classes this past monday--I'll
be taking Marketing Administration and Managerial Economics. I'm not
looking forward to the econ class, because (1) I don't like econ, and (2) I've
had this professor before. on the bright side, I'll have several people
in the class that I've come to "know," so perhaps we'll have our own
online study group via Skype and webcam? we'll see I guess.

I thought I would post some pictures that are now quite old. a few days
before halloween, my friend Priya and I carved some pumpkins. this was after we were up in the gym, workin' on our fitness...but then we went to subway and had some $5 footlongs.

the face I planned to carve....

it was not going so well, as you can see...priya had never carved a pumpkin before, but she was doing ok!lilly was wondering what was going on!our finished products

addition, here are some more photos from TJ's promotion. these were
taken by the guy using a camera that was so old, I'm pretty sure it saved
to a floppy disk. it was giant!!

in this next side of my hair looks way longer than the other. what the crap?!in
other news, we made our travel arrangements
for the holidays. we will be arriving 12/23 and leaving 12/28. so far,
we have not determined where we will be and when we will be there. sigh. so stressful. I have several people, besides family, that I would like to see...but who knows...argh.

my tuesday + monday pics

let me tell you about my day.

I had planned to wake up at 5:00, go vote, and arrive to work by 7:30 am. around 2 am, my plans changed.

TJ woke me up by saying in desperation, "Jill. I have not been to sleep at all. Something keeps beeping and saying low battery. I don't know what it is but it is driving me crazy."

A few minutes of investigation revealed it was the smoke detector in the hall. pushing the "silence" button only caused all detectors in the house to sound their alarms!! so, TJ removed the 9v battery. we walk back to the bedroom to catch some zzz's. but oh, wait! too soon! the detector kept going! well, he pulled it out of the ceiling. we'll figure that one out later...

so I did not go vote this morning, because I really needed to get to work by 7:30. it was quite the long day...I did not get to the poll (literally 2 mins from my house) until 7pm. fortunately, there were no lines! I think the majority of people voted this morning. I'm just glad I got to vote. I got my sticker. no free starbucks, unfortunately. I figured if I got it at 7pm, I'd be jazzed up all night...! but at any rate, I seriously doubt I'm going to be able to stay awake to see the results of the election.

so, on to yesterday. I have some photos! :) TJ was promoted yesterday from LTJG to Lieutenant. I attended his ceremony and pinned his new bars, along with his Captain. here are some photos...

in the photo above, the three of us are obviously looking at the wrong camera. the guy we were looking towards...yeah, he was holding THE ORIGINAL digital camera. I am not even kidding. that bad boy saved to a 3.5 floppy disk. it was like the digital camera my school had when I was in the 6th grade! at any rate--the photo displayed here--not taken with the old-skool camera.

anywho...I'm going to try to watch last week's episode of the office, if I can stay awake...that's all folks! :)
