Keep the Change...

Currently, I'm taking a break from cleaning. My back is killing me, as I've been cleaning the bathrooms for about the past 2 hours. Okay, not 2 hours straight, because I keep having to take a break from huffing the fumes and to prevent dying of heat stroke (it is currently 85 degrees upstairs). Woe is me.

Anywho, the packers came today, which is why I'm cleaning. Most of our stuff is on the moving truck, with the exception of our bedroom furniture, couch & loveseat, TV, IKEA bookshelf, and...oh yes, washer & dryer. When I say everything...I mean pretty much everything. As in--I realized after they left that I had no wash cloths to use to wash my face or take a shower. They packed all our food, so we went to Chili's tonight for dinner (where I conveniently had a gift card!)

As we are eating our meal, a server stops by the table next to ours. He was picking up their bill/payment, and says "Do you need change?" CRINGE!! Every time a server says that, a part of me dies. Another part of me wants to strangle them!

I was a server once, back in the day. You DO NOT ask a patron if they need/want change. You automatically assume they want change, and let them know this by saying, "I'll be right back with your change." When they respond "oh no, the rest is yours," cha-ching! Score! Money in the pocket! Don't be a presumptious a-hole and assume the twenty dollar bill for a ten dollar check means "keep the money." Perhaps I'm the "a-hole" for being so touchy about this issue, but I think it is incredibly rude to ask a restaurant guest if they need change. Of course they need change! Similarly? I find it incredibly rude at the hair salon when the receptionist asks if you'd like to leave a tip. Get a technologically advanced credit card machine that allows me to write in my tip instead of announcing it to all other salon patrons! I didn't need to ask guests if they wanted to leave a tip when I worked at the Western Sizzlin' in high school. The Sizzlin' has since gone out of business, but I seriously doubt it was because they were spending all their cash on a fancy credit card processor. Just sayin'...

Does this type of presumptious behavior bother you? Or should I just let it go?

Alright...I gotta get back to some cleanin'...

Where I've been...

I know it has been awhile! You might be wondering where I have been! Well...in the past 2.5 to 3 weeks, I've been in Mass, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, and Kentucky. The bulk of that time was spent in Kentucky! I had my oil changed before I started all that...and it needs it again already!

I've been really busy, and really stressed because of all the stuff that has been going on. House hunting, job hunting, travel, etc. If I haven't been in contact or commenting on your blog, I apologize. I've been doing a lot of "mark all as read" lately because of my time-constraints. Also? I spent some time at my mother's house, where high-speed internet does not exist. Therefore when I get back to the land of high-speed, my list is insanely long! Ack.

Hopefully I'll be a bit more regular in my posting soon! Until then, hang in there ;)
