Happy Tanksgiving Back!

I just wanted to wish all my bloggies out there a Happy Thanksgiving! I hope each of you has a wonderful day with your family, friends, or whomever you're spending this day with.

Later today we are going down to have Thanksgiving with my family...well actually my dad's extended side of the family. They've only started doing this in recent years, and I've never been since I've lived away, so it will be my first time experiencing the hoopla. I have had a bad headache since yesterday so I hope I can at least have a good time. Anywho--I was all pumped to sleep in today, but that didn't happen. For whatever reason, I woke up around 5:45 (actually I had to use the restroom). When I got back in bed, I couldn't go back to sleep. Instead of laying there tossing, turning and eventually waking my husband, I just decided to get up. Now I'll probably crash around 2pm, haha.

How many of you are going shopping on Black Friday? I am not about to get out in that mess! I know lots of people do it for the "thrill" but I just get really agitated and irritable. I don't feel like there is anything I need THAT bad. I'll save my energy for when I have kids who want a "must have hot item" that is nowhere to be found except a 2am Toys-R-Us mob scene! By that time kids won't want toys my 7-year-old cousin has requested an iPhone for Christmas! (which he isn't getting)

Have a fabulous Thanksgiving everyone!

*If you have no idea what the title of this post means, you need to watch one of the best movies ever, You've Got Mail! The scene happens in a grocery store and if you'll notice...the person who says it is now on Grey's Anatomy :)

Ten on Tuesday (v.1)

This week I'm participating in Chelsea's "Ten on Tuesday" feature. She writes at Roots and Rings; you can find more at her blog and read her Ten! :)

1. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I know that at one point when I was younger, I wanted to be a teacher. At another point I wanted to be a singer. It's a good thing I figured that one out...or else people would have been saying, "Bless her heart, she just don't know any better!"

2. Name 3 of your irrational fears.

-I have an irrational fear of hitting a pedestrian or bicyclist. That's really all I can think of at the moment...I'm not a super fearful person which can sometimes be bad. Anyway. The hitting a ped or cyclist isn't entirely unfounded. When I was in college my roommate got hit by a car while waiting to cross the street. Fortunately she was not hurt, just sore, but still! Another time I got hit by a cyclist. He ran his front tire right between my legs! What the crap?! I remain convinced this guy hit me on purpose...

3. If you had a $200 gift card to any store, what would you want it to be? (Nothing responsible allowed. Can’t be used for groceries or anything)

I was going to say J Crew but then I remembered $200 wouldn't go far in that store! So I'll change my mind and go with Target, only one of the best stores ever!

4. What is your most (blog-friendly) embarrassing moment?'s kinda gross. Last week I went out to lunch with a co-worker. We had Mexican food and it was DELICIOUS. meal started "puttin' a hurtin' on me." I tried to fight the bellyaches but finally I couldn't take it anymore and said "omg you're going to have to wait right here." So not only did she have a laugh at my expense (and the sad thing is that I don't know her THAT well). There were also some Hispanic gentlemen sitting at the bar. They saw me enter the ladies room and exit the ladies room some time later. It isn't like they didn't know what was going on in there! oh well, it was kinda funny but also embarassing!

5. If you were only allowed to eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

Cheese pizza, for sure. "A lovely cheese pizza just for me!" (name that movie!)

6. What was your favorite toy growing up?

I'd have to say the Lite Brite and/or Barbie. My little cousin asked recently, "What is a Lite Brite?" You should have heard my mom trying to explain that one! He had no clue.

7. Do you have a “go to” outfit? What is it?

Anything that includes dark jeans and heeled boots. I'm a dark jeans snob. My favorites are from Gap.

8. Who was the best teacher you ever had?

I would have to say my 10th grade Geometry teacher Mrs. Howard (who actually made math fun!), my Chorus teacher all through high school (Mr. Underwood), or my yearbook teacher Ms. Sapp. Yearbook was actually a class so she truly was my teacher, not just a "sponsor."

9. If you could buy any car right now (something at least SORT OF within the realm of reality…so, you know, a Rolls Royce may not qualify), what would it be?

Hmm...I might spring for an Acura TSX! Though I quite like my (current) 4-Runner and liked the Explorer so I might get another would depend where we could get the best deal! My hubby gets the next new car though, so he gets to decide...and I know what he wants. Doesn't match up with my wants but I don't get to choose since I basically did the deciding last time!

10. How do you reckon that Chelsea comes up with 10 of these questions every week? It was hard! What’s your theory on how she’s so creative? Are you going to help her?

I think she is super creative and must carry a small notebook in her purse to jot down these questions that she thinks up! That's what I'd do...otherwise I would forget everything.

Thanks for playing folks! I'll try to start posting more regularly once the semester ends.

Seven Quick Takes (v.4)

Seven Quick Takes is hosted by ConversionDiary. Visit to link up with other "quick-takers!" :)

1. I have had a long week--I've already worked 38 hours and still have a full day to go! On Tuesday, my day started at 8am, and I did not get home until 10pm. No lie. You want to hear the cherry on top of that story? My boss called in sick that day. I normally would not even mention this if it weren't becoming such a pattern...ayy. Anyway, I probably shouldn't complain about my long week, because I'd say my husband has easily worked 50 hours this week, AND I'm thankful just to have a job.

2. Remember I mentioned like a month ago that my Blackberry was official a junk paperweight? We JUST NOW got a refund. Seriously! The good thing, though, is that we did get the refund, so all's well that ends well I suppose!

3. I am 26 years old, but for the past 2 weeks I have been taking my blood pressure daily and keeping a "diary." It is not good, people, not good at all. When I went to the doctor a couple weeks ago (about my allergies), they said my BP was high and to ask the doctor about it. So I did. He goes "oh yeah...and it was a little high last time too." High BP runs in my family, so this sucks. I should be more proactive about it and exercising more, but I haven't. It isn't that I don't want to--I just need to MAKE time.

4. When I had such a long day on Tuesday, my mom came up to "babysit" her granddogs. I didn't want them to be alone for such an extended period of time with no potty break, so I asked her, and she was like "YEAH!" I think all parties involved enjoyed themselves, haha. I felt bad for her though...because she got home even later than I. I told her to just stay the night, but she had to go home. I'm sure the dogs got NO treats or anything while she was here...ha!

5. Earlier in the week, I registered for my final two MBA classes. They start in early January. It will be (another) tough semester, I'm sure, but I'm just trying to keep in mind that it will be my last! I debated on just taking one class (the required one), walking in May graduation, and finishing up with an elective in summer. On the one hand, I just want to get done, but on the other hand it would be nice to have a little less pressure. I'll probably just stick with my plan for now, unless something changes.

6. I found out today that I'll be going to St. Louis for work in early December. I've actually never been to Missouri so that will be another state to cross off my list! I purchased my plane ticket for just $165 AND I have a nonstop return flight. Hooray for Southwest!

7. I think I need a personal assistant. The problem is I am not that cool, nor can I afford one. Right now I need the oil changed in my car, my dogs taken to the vet, my house cleaned, my groceries purchased, dry cleaning dropped off, and several other things that keep getting pushed back. I'm not a total diva, I promise. I just have homework...which I should be doing now...

On that note, peace out bloggies! Have a great weekend!

Currently--November 2009

So the theme of this post is copied from the Lauren from Texas blog. She is an adorable little blogger whom I found through my bloggie buddy Chelsea at Roots and Rings. They know each other IRL and I'm kind of jealous...I don't know too many real life bloggers. Anyway, let's get down to it...

Current Book(s): This is going to be sad and pathetic. The main books that consume my life right now are Images of Organization, Reframing Organizations, and Essentials of Corporate Finance. Are you jealous? I thought you would be. I've also been making a more concerted effort to read my Bible. I'm not doing this in any type of organized fashion, but I would like to find a book of devotionals or some type of organized reading plan.

Current Playlist: Umm yeah. Don't really have one. I listen to Classic Rewind, the Highway, and Hits One on Sirius Satellite radio. I also sometimes listen to Pandora when I'm at work and one of my favorite stations is Ray Charles Radio (for serious). Also, I've recently discovered the music channels on my digital cable so sometimes I listen to the "meditate" channel while doing homework. It usually makes me sleepy though.

Current Shame-Inducing Guilty Pleasure: The stupid "Sorority Life" game on Facebook. I want to stop but it's like I just can't. Plz help stat!

Current Color: I'm currently loving plum/purple/eggplant, as well as dark grey. Together or separate, the two are fab.

Current Drink: Per usual I have been drinking too much Sprite. I recently purchased some orange juice for the first time in a long time, and it was delicious. It made me wonder why I don't purchase it more often, but then I remembered it is because I forget about it and it goes bad.

Current Food: My eating habits have pretty much sucked lately, so we don't have to go into too much detail here! For dinner I ate spaghetti o's with meatballs. We'll leave it at that.

Current Favorite Show: My favorite shows, hands down, are Gossip Girl and The Office. This is mostly because these are the only shows I watch.

Current Wishlist: A new Blackberry or an iPhone. Pajama pants. New house slippers. Gap Curvy jeans in dark rinse size 6 short. I'm pretty easy to buy for, really :)

Current Needs: A Dunkin Donuts medium hazelnut coffee with cream and sugar that actually tastes like it has hazelnut syrup and cream and sugar. I've tried a local DD two times now, and both times they failed me. Oh and also a good pedicure and a good solid eyebrow wax.

Current Triumphs: Last week a project I organized/completed at work got us some good press. Good press as in TV. For my 4th week on the job, I wouldn't say that was too bad...

Current Bane(s) of my Existence: Laundry my house...I thought about offering my to pay my mom to come up here and clean my house, but I didn't ask because I thought she'd say no. Plus I felt kinda bad about it, but she doesn't have a day job...and she could see her granddogs...but still, I felt kinda bad.

Current Indulgence: Peanut butter chocolate no-bake cookies from the Walmart bakery. I don't have any right now, thank goodness. I blame my mother in law for getting me started on these...they are delicious.

Current #1 Blessing: My dogs. They have been keeping me sane during a really hard time lately. My husband is a close second (sorry honey)

Current Outfit: Meaning current as in right this moment? Okay...a Live United t-shirt, blue checked UK pajama pants, and fuzzy houseslippers. The epitome of a sexy wife, I know.

Current Excitement: I came home today and our fence was completed in the backyard. It looks great and offers some much needed privacy. Now I can let my dogs out and not worry that they are doo-doo'ing in my 80-year-old neighbor's backyard!

Current Mood: Sleepy. Irritated at myself for being a procrastinator and not having self-discipline.

Current Link: I'm going with Lauren's link here, because I followed and really liked it. The No Spend Month Challenge
on Small Notebook really caused me to think. Could I go for a month without spending that money? I honestly don't know. I think I could, but I think it would be really hard. It caused me to think about those items on which I spend my money...and think about wants versus needs! I liked what I read on the blog, so I'm going to try to read more when I have additional time.

What's going on with you currently?
