Motivation Mondays & Breakfast Recipe!

Like Allie I've been running and trying to eat better. I started off at 138.4 on May 18 (22nd? can't remember). I was down to 133.6 early last week but my # has crept up a little. Probably because I ate Chick-fil-A/had a chocolate milkshake from Parkette last week (boy was it delicious). BUT maybe not, Allie had a post that was encouraging, showing a comparison....

...these two items weigh EXACTLY THE SAME.
That picture kind of makes me want to throw up a little.
Anyway, trying to start the week off better, here is what I had for breakfast. I adapted this recipe from Sarah Fit, a blogger & YouTuber I love!


"Overnight Oats"

--1/2 c. Quaker Old-Fashioned Oats
--3/4 c. 1% milk
--4 packets of Equal (will scale back slowly on this)
--Couple spoonfuls of frozen "Berry Medley"
Mix the milk and oats and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, microwave your oats. Add Equal and berries. Yum!

I've seen several adaptations of this using yogurt, peanut butter, honey, etc. I can't remember the last time I ate "real" oats, so I wanted to try something easy. I could have tried Almond Breeze milk for fewer calories, but I forgot to buy it at the store (I've never had it, so who knows if I'd have liked it). By my calculations this entire recipe is about 250 calories. I ate it around 7:30 and I'm still very full...usually by now I'm hungry! In the future, I will try a smaller portion and add in something else.

Another change I've made recently pertains to my coffee. If you know me, you know I love Dunkin Donuts coffee. For almost 4 years, I've been relying heavily on my Hazelnut Coffee with Cream & Sugar to get me started. Well, for about 2 weeks I've consistently been ordering Hazelnut Coffee with Milk & 4 Equals. It's still yummy, and it has A LOT fewer calories. I haven't put sugar in my coffee at home, either (just Equal). It's a small change but one I hope will pay off...I'm impatient don'tcha know!?

In other news, my 28th birthday is Wednesday. Let's hope I don't fall off the wagon with birthday cake or anything too ka-razy like that!!!
