Long time no see, bloggies! I promised you I'd tell you where I was going before I gallavanted off...but I dropped the ball and didn't do that. Sorry!
Last Thursday (the 14th), TJ and I flew out of Lexington around 7 a.m. headed to Atlanta. We arrived with about 30 minutes to spare before boarding for our next flight which was to leave around 9:40.
Just as we get to our gate, I get an alert from the Delta app....
"Your departure time has now been changed to 3:35 p.m. from gate E12"
Our departure time was actually more like 6:45 p.m....for a 9+ hour flight to Honolulu! By the time we left, we should have already been there. A girl sat beside me...who talked to herself...quite a bit. We finally got to our hotel around 11 p.m. Hawaii time (which was 5 a.m. (the next day) Kentucky time). By that time we'd been traveling almost 24 hours! whew!
This was our view the next morning....from our hotel on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu (on the island of Oahu)
Our hotel didn't have a very good beach, so we drove up to the North Shore one day to the beach at Wailea Bay. It was pretty big, and pretty nice!
On our way back to our hotel, we stopped at the Dole Plantation.
We both had a Dole Whip...which was essentially a mix between gelato and soft serve. As you can see in the photo, it melted quickly, ha!
Just another pic of the Dole pineapples...
TJ playing a quick diddy on the ukulele
After our time in Oahu, we went on to Maui. Our hotel had this cool waterfall just outside/inside the reception area...
This was the view from our balcony...
It kind of rains often in Hawaii (though not huge amounts) and we saw this beautiful rainbow one day...
We had some delicious pancakes...various kinds, including macadamia nut...and of course we had lots of pineapple. SO GOOD!
The next two pictures are juuuuuust as it was coming up on sunset and our very last day there. I thought the sun over the water was beautiful!
(sorry all my ocean pics are basically from the same angle!)
So admittedly...I didn't take nearly enough pictures. Always the case! We didn't really do a ton, probably because we'd been once before and did a lot of touristy type things (Pearl Harbor, Haleakala Crater, etc.). This time we sort of just chilled out and tried not to spend our entire life savings (which wouldn't be too hard...it is expensive!!!)
We got back on Friday....which was my birthday. I mostly slept the day away :)
I am now 29...ick.
